I’m back! The last few months have been very busy with traveling and work and I have not had much time to dedicate to my blog. That is why my word for this month is DESIRE!
Motivation is what get’s you started. DESIRE and habit keep you going.
How many of us set a New Year’s resolution to start taking better care of ourselves? We are motivated to get in shape and work out. We wake up early to exercise and stock our fridge with healthy food. Maybe we even invest in a gym membership or a new pair of running shoes. A few months into the year and we start to lose focus and put our health and wellness on the back burner. Soon enough, that New Year’s resolution to workout and our desire to get in better shape are long gone and we are right back where we started.
I personally have found this with a few areas of my life. I realized how much I enjoy writing and how therapeutic it can be to put my thoughts and ideas on paper. When I get busy, unfortunately I don’t dedicate the time to writing and I start to miss it. Instead of worrying about my “to-do” list, I need to focus on what really matters and what makes a difference to other people. That feeling of taking the time to do something you love is the DESIRE of your heart. We need to do more of what fills our heart with joy!
Finding desire in our heart may be something we struggle with. As I traveled for work the last few months, I met many people and heard many stories, but one story stuck out in my mind. After a presentation, I met a gentlemen who told me he doesn’t have any desires in life. So I asked him what he meant by that statement. As he began to tell me the story about losing his wife and then three months later losing another relative, he felt his sadness has taken over his desire to be happy. I told him that desire is something we all need to find in our heart. Find something that makes you happy or something you look forward to. Maybe thats a coffee date with a friend or joining a bible study group. You must have the desire to live with happiness and gratitude, and only YOU can find that desire in your heart.
In order to live a fulfilled life you need to engage in the situations that correspond to your desires. Do what you can to make sure you are doing things that you desire to do. By recognizing and acknowledging those desires, you will feel energetic, creative, courageous, vibrant, and connected to the goals you wish to achieve. The best thing about living a life filled with desire is to foster joy and fulfillment.
Napoleon Hill says, “Desire is the starting point of all achievements, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”
